Escaping Death

It was a very normal day in our house. My younger brother and I were playing and my parents were doing their regular household chores. Suddenly, we heard the door burst open. I saw my uncles barging in and stabbing my mom and dad with a knife.

My mind went blank. I did not know what was happening; all I could see were my uncles and some strange men entering our house and stabbing my parents to death. I learned much later that my mother’s brother had gotten into a heated argument over a land dispute which then led to my parents’ murder. A relative rescued me and my younger brother that day. I later learned that my uncle wanted to kill us as well  so we wouldn’t testify against him to the police.

It was then that my relatives decided to take me to Zaina’s Home and I haven’t looked back ever since. I have found my family. Everything is nice here; I have a bed to sleep in that is really soft and comfortable. I am also enrolled in school. I want to study and become a Gynaecologist. I am in 10th standard now, but I have already started preparing for my NEET (Medical Entrance Exam).
